Ballet Dancers…what is your view on this?

I’m writing an exemplification essay on whether or not female ballet dancers are overly concerned with their outward appearance and fitness level. Are they overly concerned with being thin? What is influencing that need to be super thin?

I appreciate all different kinds of views that you can give me. True stories are great for examples too.

At my studio we are all different sizes and there are a lot of different ranges. At my studio nobody really judges anybody on their size, we judge on their ability. The thing i believe that is influencing people to be super thin is that they see all of the classically trained professionals are all super skinny so they think if they want to be a professional that they also need to look emaciated. My teacher at the studio is a little bigger than average but she is an amazing dancer and an inspiration for all of us at the studio. I think its basically a general statement that ballet dancers are obsessed with being thin.
