Has ever taken a salsa class before? If so, what was the age range of and male-female ratio of students?
Depending on the locale, I’ve seen usual mixes of 60/40 up to extremes of about 75/25 F/M ratios, with maybe half the students in their twenties, most of the remainder in their thirties, a fair number in their forties, and a reasonable smattering of older and younger people.
how do I come about putting a salsa class at my community college?
Actually, Im doing a research paper on salsa dancing, and one of my questions was if students were interested in salsa dancing maybe having a salsa class on campus
That depends on how classes are organized at your school. If you have a dance department, and dance is seen as an academic subject matter, then you need to talk to the department chair about it and it is up to the chair to decide if such a class would fit the curriculum and to hire a teacher. All you can do is to make a suggestion, and there is no requirement that they follow up with it. If, on the other hand, your school offers a series of recreational classes without credit, you may be able to add to the schedule more easily. It isn’t clear from what you wrote if you want to teach the class or if you want to take the class. If you just want to take the class, they will take it from there. If you want to teach it, you would then have to talk to whoever plans these classes about your qualifications to do so.
