Exercise Over 40- the best exercise over 40 is free
Want to know more aboout exercise over 40? The good news is, losing weight and getting fit works the same no matter how old you are. Losing stubborn body fat is totally possible. It comes off the same way for everyone: You have to burn off more calories than you consume.
NOTHING else will work. If there’s a “secret” to naturally and permanently losing body fat as you age, it’s this: It’s all in the habits.
You need to change the habits that are causing you to be lazy when it comes to the care of your health. I wish I could tell you otherwise. Anything else I could say really wouldn’t hit the subject of anti aging for us baby boomers right on the head. Your body has amazing regeneration abilities. It can and will repair itself. It just can’t do it without your help. Exercise over 40 is like a retirement account. You get back what you put in. The only thing that changes are the adjustments you make as you get older. For example, when I was in my twenties, I tried to lose weight by running. Now running hurts my knees. So instead of using that as an excuse to do nothing, I do what works in the real world- I exercise everyday- but with something low impact like a stair machine.
Many people have the misconception that metabolism slows down with age, just because of age. That’s not the whole story. Muscle is metabolically active, fat is not. If you allow muscles to shrink from lack of use with age, metabolism slows down because there is less muscle tissue burning calories. It a vicious cycle, the more the muscles shrink, the slower your metabolism needs to run. The slower it runs, the less food you need. The same amount of food energy going into a body that doesn’t need it, forces the body to store the excess energy [mostly as stomach, hip and thigh fat]. The more fat and less muscle, the less energy your body needs, has, and feels like exerting.
Being active [regardless of your age] will help you get that vicious cycle stopped, and turned in the other direction. More muscle tissue means more energy needed. Food is now used to sustain muscle instead of being stored as fat. This is how one really great anti aging activity; strength training, helps with what you really want to do, which is not to just lose weight, but to lean out. “Leaning out” means losing fat and keeping or adding muscle. During weight loss, challenging muscles with strength training [and eating right] sends signals to the brain those the muscles are needed, telling your body to use fat as the primary fuel source.
The biggest reason to strength train? Your muscles were designed to be used- no matter how old you are. You have powerful muscles, along with an extremely strong skeletal system. Don’t let them go to waste. Think about anything mechanical. What happens over time? It wears out and breaks down. You were designed so amazingly and incredibly efficient that break-down doesn’t happen with use; strength, power, mental improvement, and longevity come with use.
What’s the secret to exercise over 40- and beyond? There isn’t one. There’s no magic pill. There’s no shortcuts. It’s taking action and changing those habits. Healthy and natural weight loss is something we make way too complicated- at any age. Here’s the sad truth: Nearly 2 out of 3 Americans are overweight or obese. The reasons are not a mystery. We eat too much and we’re not active enough. Most of us know that. Most of us know we need to “eat right and get some exercise.”
We just don’t do it. Why? Well, mostly because it’s simpler to forget about our health- until a problem pops up. When we’re nervously waiting the result of a medical test, it’s a little late to think about what we should have been doing.
Let me share what you need to do for exercise over 40, then I tell you the most important part: How to do it.
Step: 1 Get honest. You must honestly recognize the habits you need to fix. If you refuse to see them, you can’t fix them.
Step 2: Eat natural foods. You never put anything in that car you’re going to get rid of someday besides gas because you know you’d ruin it. Then why would you put things in your ONE AND ONLY body it was never designed to run on?
Step 3: Get active. What the number one factor in longevity? It’s not a positive attitude. It’s aerobic capacity. Your heart and lungs need to be challenged. The same goes for your skeletal muscles.
Step 4: Take action. You have to get started doing something NOW. It doesn’t matter what it is. Something is always better than nothing. Nothing is your greatest enemy in life. Nothing will take away everything you have, faster than anything.
Action is the key. Taking action will reveal where you need to fix things. Getting in some xercise over 40, losing weight, looking younger, and living longer is all about one thing:
Making exercise a priority in your daily life.
When you treat your body the way it was designed to be treated, it will look better, feel better, and run longer. Once I changed my weight gain habits, I felt so much better on all levels of life that I wrote an ebook that teaches how to change those habits. Since changing the habits is the key to successful and permanent weight loss, there’s no calorie charts or workouts in my book.
There is no one best way to lose weight and stay fit. Any safe way will work. You can get free weight loss information anywhere. Information is not the problem. Taking those weight loss tips and making them a habit is the problem. My weight loss solution is simple: Identify the bad habits, and one at a time, change them to good habits. This works because it’s simple. It works and it doesn’t matter how old you are.
I call it getting a new body and new life. Yes, it works for anyone. All you need is an open mind and the willingness to do what really works. I promise, once you understand how to change your habits, you’ll see it’s not that hard to effectively lose weight. If an average 50 year old like me can get fit, getting in some exercise over 40 is even easier.
Just start getting in some actual exercise everyday- before it’s too late.
